Live and Live Hard

My dream is to travel the world.

But I didn’t always have the courage to do it.

Like so many young college students, I found myself lost after graduation. On one hand, I really wanted to travel the world, but on the other, I felt the right thing to do was to get a decent job, save money, and settle down, you know, all the things that society tells us are normal.

Except, I had a really hard time being normal. I tried pursuing what I studied, I tried working in an office, I tried so many different things that I started to lose myself. I would come home every day feeling drained and no matter what, my mind was always on traveling.

Then one day, I just stopped. I had enough. I got tired of being scared and asked myself, “Is this the person that you want to be?” and I said no. I didn’t want to be someone who was scared to live. So, I got on my computer, bought myself a one-way ticket to Asia, and set myself free.

This trip gave me the strength and confidence that I never knew I had.

During this trip, I learned a very valuable lesson: ALL of the fears I had about pursuing my dreams were made up by me. When I came home, I decided I’ll no longer let fear rule my life.

In the following months, I made a series of life-changing decisions. I became vegan, I took a job that I enjoyed much more, and I continued to travel whenever I could. My identity slowly began to shift.

But all of that didn’t come without a price. I struggled to embrace my new identity and my family didn’t understand it. The most devastating change, however, was that my eight-year relationship with my partner ended. To say that it was heartbreaking would be an understatement.

After that, I left my home in New York City to pursue my dream of moving to California all by myself. This was one of the most selfish but loving things I’ve ever done for myself. This was the first time that I was able to clearly define who I was, what’s important to me, and who I wanted to be in this world.

I decided I wanted to be someone who is not afraid to live life, not afraid to express themselves, who inspires others and the result was this website.

I don’t know who you are or where you are on your journey, but I want you to know that if you’re struggling, feeling lost, or afraid to step into the unknown, you are not alone. Your fears and your doubts are valid but most importantly you have the strength to overcome them.

Your life is yours, your dreams are yours, and you do not need anyone’s permission to go after what you want. Let go of your fears and become the person that you’ve always wanted to be. I’ll be right next to you.
